The Easter Island Red Hats Mystery Finally Solved
A British team of archaeologists believe that they have finally solved the mystery of the famous statues on the Easter Island red hats. It’s wondered how the Easter Island statues got those red hats? The archaeologists finally know that how the hats were made and how the statues red hats were fixed on the Easter Island.
The Easter Island is the world’s most distant place populated by people, more than 2,500 kilometers from the coast of Chile. Dr Colin Richards from the University of Manchester and Dr Sue Hamilton from University College London said that the red hats were made by several tons and made of red scoria dust with prehistoric volcano and then rolled by some unlucky Polynesians to ceremonial platforms along the coast.
The statues were placed on the heads of fixed stone figures mostly known as “moai” was standing on ritual platforms and transit. The archaeologist team also said that, more than 70 red hats had been found at the ritual platforms and many had hats broken up and integrated into the platforms. They also added 70% of the island status was transformed into open gardens more than 500 years ago.
Dr. Richards also said there was ever to have excavated the called “Puna Pau” quarry on the tiny Pacific island. Since 1914 Richards and Hamilton are the first British archeologists to work on Easter Island.
