The Audi (is a German manufacturer of a range of automobiles, from super mini to crossover SUVs in various body styles and price ranges that are marketed under the Audi brand, The company is headquartered in Ingolstadt, Germany, and has been a wholly owned (99.55%) subsidiary of Volkswagen AG since 1964. Volkswagen launched the Audi brand with the 1965 introduction of the Audi 60 range. Shortly thereafter the name was acquired as part of Volkswagen’s purchase of the Auto Union assets from former owner, Daimler-Benz.) has been one of the older and more famous brands in the car manufacturing industry and has always been known for manufacturing beautiful and powerful models.

The Germany based company has launched the Spyder A8 a new model in its long list of handsome looking cars. The company has even set up a V8 powerplant in the UK, the orders of the car have started to be taken and deliveries of the first cars should start somewhere in between January 2011. The car will come with some features that have been added upon from its V10 brother.

The Spyder comes equipped with the same refinements found in the coupe, with the addition of heated electrically adjusted leather clad seats, with built in belt mounted microphones and Bluetooth connectivity. But as with all cars at this level what we are really interested in is the engine specs, so here we go. Audi has reworked the 4.2-litre V8 to knock on the door of 424bhp at 7900rpm, giving 317lb ft of torque between 4500rpm and 6000rpm. According Audi’s technical team 90 percent its torque is available from 3000rpm and again when you need it most between 6000rpm and 7500rpm, so this should make overtaking in this car breathtaking.

With performance figures of 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 186mph this car is by no means a slug and the figures remain the same whether you choose the standard six-speed manual or the £5310 option six-speed S tronic automated manual transmission so you always have a cheaper option whenever there you fall short as far as the cost is concerned. The engine is available with Audi’s R tronic sequential manual gearbox Like the V10 model, the V8 Spyder features an aluminum space frame with carbon composites and an automatic retractable folding cloth roof.

Audi know how to roll out a model range. You start with what you think will be the biggest seller and then you add in the budget option and the halo option once you’ve got the bigger seller running round all over the place. Or at least that’s how it usually works. But not with the Audi R8 Spyder. Kudos to the Audi marketing department for such amazing planning.
