The size of an e-reader is becoming an important issue these days while some companies are adamant of bringing the size barrier down there are others that are increasing the size of the e-reader. There were reports that Delta electronics (Delta Electronics, Inc., founded in 1971, is an international corporation which sells power supplies, video display, and computer software. Delta Electronics has sales offices worldwide and manufacturing plants in Taiwan, India, Thailand, China, Mexico and Europe, and is the world’s largest provider of switching power supplies and brushless fans. Forbes Magazine announced its 2007 Asian Fab 50 Companies list on September 6. Delta Electronics is featured on the list, which is Forbes’ annual roundup of Asia’s best public companies. Companies on the Asian Fab 50 list are selected on the criteria of revenue or market value (at least $ 5 billion), sales and earnings growth, and stock-price gains. ) was about to launch an 8.2’’ (pretty small mind you!!) eBook reader in the latter half of the year earlier. The claims are coming out to be true as the device is about to be launched in the month of December.

The Vivitek-branded e-reader will feature a 8.2″ color touch-enabled e-paper (based on Bridgestone’s e-paper technology), 3G and Wi-Fi. China Mobile will offer a subsidized version for the China market, and Delta hopes to land more partnerships. Delta electronics has been showing a 13.1″ color display back in June 2010, promising a December launch. The Delta Electronics e-Magazine features a battery life of 6,000 page turns, weighs half the weight of an iPad and is well suited to display digital magazines.
While the display itself is flexible, it looks like Delta has encased it in rigid plastic much like Plastic Logic did with their QUE ProReader. It’s good to hear they’re on track to release the eBook reader on time, although the display is smaller than we heard before. This newly leaked version has a smaller screen, but otherwise the specifications look very similar. However there’s no indication of whether the 8.2-inch Delta ereader – which will carry the Vivitek brand – will allow for pen-input annotation, like the larger model could.
“There are some bugs still to be ironed out for the product to make it on time for the December launch,” a source for the Taipei Times said.
“Delta is very aggressive with the e-reader segment, because it has the capability to control the whole manufacturing process, from e-paper and components to the end products. The e-paper could be applied to a wider range of products and e-readers are only one example,” the source added.
China Mobile are said to be subsidizing the sticker price of the device, though neither the original or discounted cost are currently known. So there it is guys another ebook reader in the market we are not saying that it has the ability to match the Amazon kindle or the Apple iPad for that matter but it is definitely going to compete in the fight and prove to be an option for some. How do you like the device? What is your take on it? Do not forget to let us know whether the Delta ebook reader has it to become one of your favorites in the comments section below.
