In the last couple of years, we have observed that the Fujitsu tablet devices have not clicked the right button in the lives of the masses, but now the company has come up with yet another netbook, the Fujitsu Lifebook T580 netbook. Though the other products of Fujitsu have proved to be rather successful in their fields, but the netbooks have yet not been in the limelight, which may have been due to them being mundane and expensive. A much older Lifebook model is shown below.

The Fujitsu company has made a declaration of the Fujitsu Lifebook T580 netbook which is scheduled to be the “killer mobile office computer of 2011”, as the company is to bring forth the tablet device in the year of 2011. The Fujitsu Lifebook T580 netbook features a 10.1 inch machine with a fold-round dual-digitiser – stylus and touch – display for tablet usage. Apart from the screen size which makes the Fujitsu Lifebook T580 look like a netbook, but the other attributes do seem to make it believable that this is no mere netbook.
With clear resemblance to the leaked roadmap slides seen by Reg Hardware, the Fujitsu Lifebook T580 netbook will incorporate the Intel Core i5 chippery, “implying perhaps the arrive between then and now of lower-power mobile i5s than Intel has on its books today.” The other noteworthy specifications of the tablet netbook include GPS, optional 3G connectivity, a fancy Berliner Glass display on some models, and an eight-hour battery life. With such a good and appreciable combination, the device weighs about 1.4 kg.
For information, Fujitsu Limited is a Japanese multinational computer hardware and IT services company headquartered in the Shiodome City Center complex in Minato, Tokyo. Fujitsu’s central focus is on providing IT-driven business solutions, but the company and its subsidiaries also offer a diversity of products and services in the areas of personal computing, telecommunications and advanced microelectronics. As of April 2010, Fujitsu is in the process of rolling out a new slogan focused on partnering with its customers and retiring the “possibilities are infinite” tagline. The new slogan is “Shaping tomorrow with you”.
Fujitsu reports that all its notebook and tablet PCs released globally comply with the latest Energy Star standard. In Greenpeace’s Guide to Greener Electronics of May 2010 the company only ranks 15th out of 18 leading electronics manufacturers. Greenpeace criticizes Fujitsu for its slow progress in phasing out polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFR). Fujitsu is eliminating PVC from its products by the end of 2013 but has not committed to abolishing all BFRs. Fujitsu markets personal computing, telecommunications and advanced microelectronics solutions. Fujitsu was for a time one of the largest global PC vendors.
The Fujitsu Lifebook T580 netbook is scheduled to arrive the later part of the first quarter of 2011. The pricing details of the netbook have not yet been revealed, but the configuration and specifications of the netbook suggests that it might be somewhat high. Let us all eagerly wait for the final outcome.
