People of Lava Android TV Specs & Review: Scandinavia is first Android TV

Swedish television manufacturer, People of Lava, which may have been little known yet, has now made a bold move which has made the company quite known and exposed. The company has now demonstrated a fully-interactive internet TV running Google’s Android operating system. Known as the Lava Android TV, the prototype of this device was shown. This is actually an HD TV and seems to be the most convincing answer to the question of the ‘future of TVs”, that is, the Lava Android TV shows what TVs will be like in future. Highly remarkable!

There seems to be no space left where the Android has not taken over as of now, and now they have been spotted on TVs as well. The People of Lava Scandinavia Android TV is said to be available in three sizes, which measure as 42 inch, 47 inch and 55 inch. The availability of these models will be there from the month of September this year. Regarding the price, the Lava Scandinavia Android TV will be accompanied by a price tag starting from around £1,800 to £2,000. Though at the first look the price will seem to be quite a lot for a TV, but, if you look closely you shall come to know that this is not an ordinary old HD TV.

Lava Android TV Review - Lava Scandinavia TVs reveal first Android TV

One of the biggest and most interesting facets of the Lava Scandinavia Android TV is the ability of the TV to feature as a “connected” TV, which shall run a modified version of Google’s Android operating system. According to the people of Lava’s CEO and co-founder, Christian Svantesson, this shall give users “a Window to the World”, which has been a result of a three-year collaboration with Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology.

Svantesson explained that they realized that there were “certain characteristics” that could “blend” into what they were working on. He also had discussed on how media consumption was changing. The Android TV applications to be supported include YouTube, Google Maps, Weather, Time, Calendar, Internet Browser, and also downloadable apps, which are both free and coming from the Google app store, like Facebook, Twitter, Email and so on.

The People of Lava Android Tv will also provide Internet connection and USB connection, and have been made unique in a large number of ways, which include the use of materials which have never been used in televisions before – a nearly natural material, with a very deep gloss, and hard as stone.

According to Svantesson, the two companies had been working in coordination on the research of how the PC could be integrated into the living room without the complexity or drawbacks associated with media center PCs or media streamers. He also stressed on the custom-built operating system which they had been working on, which was designed to solve the PC-related problems. But he said that they stopped in the track of the OS, when Google announced Android in October 2008.
