Photoshop.com Mobile: iPhone App from Adobe, a review

Photo editing has been quite a passion for the photography lovers. With the increase in the number and variety of apps, the iPhone is becoming the present market ruler in mobile industry. The latest iPhone app for the task of photo editing is the Photoshop.com Mobile, an advanced photo editing useful and convenient app from Adobe. We all know of the popularity of the Adobe Photoshop, and its user-friendly attributes, and finally that is available for your iPhones.

The Photoshop.com Mobile app was released for the iPhones and the iPod Touch. The app does not seem to be as powerful as the Adobe Photoshop we are familiar with, but this does provide a suite of interesting features and facets to work with, thus making this a must try app. One of the main characteristics of the app which draws attention is that it is available for free, thus removing all boundaries for which one may not try this app. The app is provided with a very intuitive and simple interface to work with, and the user will even get tool tips if required.

With the first tap of the iPhone, you are taken to the Edit screen for you to select a photo for editing. Here, you can select any photo clicked by you, and then edit them. At the bottom of the screen, there are three options for you to go to. The first one is Online which is for you to go to your online Photoshop.com account. The second option is Upload, which automatically shall enable you to upload an image to your account. The third is the Settings, which shall allow you to configure your account, sign in or out, view tool tips etc.

The Photoshop.com Mobile app does provide a few features of image editing, but not to the depth to which the users may expect it to provide. The initial features of crop, rotate or flip, along with changing the exposure, tint or saturation, or making the picture black and white, are quite basic, and are accompanied by the provision for turning the photo to a sketch, or soften the focus, and of course the adding of effects like Vibrant, Pop, Vignette Blur, Rainbow, Border, Warm Vintage, White Glow, and Soft Black and White.

The working on this app can take place in both landscape and portrait mode, and is easily achieved by a swipe of the finger. Also accompanied by the ability to control the amount of the edits you apply on the images, the Photoshop.com Mobile app does not apply for tweaking of effects. Though the user can undo effects applied by them on the images, the process itself is non-destructible. Online sharing of photos is possible through the online account with Facebook, Flickr, Photobucket, and Picasa.

But alongside come the drawbacks or the deficiencies rather, of this app. There is no provision of sharpening the image, which is very much required if the photo is clicked from a 3 MP camera for example. Also, the iPhones finger gestures will not allow you to zoom in or out of the screen, thus making it a bit difficult. Adobe has acknowledged these issues and planned to solve them in the next release. Till then, you can try this wonderful app out!
