PocketBook IQ Android eReader: Specs, Features & Review

It is really amazing to know the speed with which the tablet computers and Android markets are clogging the heart of the market. Pocket Book is the newest addition to the already existing and quite a bulky list of Android device manufacturers. The company has launched two devices one is an Android powered tablet computer while the other is a Linux based e-Reader. The devices will be revealed at the IFA show at Berlin next week and it will really be pretty interesting to see how the sales go once the device is launched, in such a competitive market.

PocketBook IQ Android eReader: PocketBook IQ Specs, Features & Review

When it comes to the technical aspect of the devices both of them are quite some device, while most people will agree that it has become excessively difficult to rate the devices nowadays this one is pretty much one of the best. The name pocket book really does not fit in well with the devices because they carry a 7 inch screen which in no way can fit into your pockets. The e-Reader is following the old naming schemes of the Pocket Book e-Readers that is the ^0x range while the tablet has been innovatively named as the Pocket IQ. Powered by pretty much the same 533MHz processor as well as 256MB or RAM, both of these devices go for an old-school 4:3 aspect ratio screen that displays 800×600 pixels, although the IQ tablet comes with a color TFT touchscreen while the 602 e-Reader features a e-Ink panel that can display 16 shades of gray.

We are not particularly interested with the hardware that is packed within the devices, The 533MHz processor does not really live up to the operating system that is packed inside the device. But the reduced an attractive price offered by the company may lure a lot of customers into actually going for the device. Other features of the tablet computer includes pretty much the same that can be expected out of all the tablet computers of today like a USB port, headphone jack, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a SD card slot as well as a 1600mAh battery that is good for up to 245 hours of use.

The e-Reader however seems to be more powerful (in comparison to the other low range e-Reader in the market it this comes packed with WiFi and Bluetooth support as well as 2GB of internal storage memory expandable via a microSD card slot which indeed a good configuration for an e-Reader to have. Compatible with a wide range of formats, this e-Reader has an estimated battery life of about 14,000 page flips thanks to a 1530 mAh power pack.

Price wise, the 6 inch tablet is a bit more expensive than the IQ tablet, PocketBook is selling 602 eReader for $179 and PocketBook IQ 701 price is $139, availability being the same for both products, PocketBook selling these all over Europe.
