Samsung N148 Plus – the cheapest laptop running on the Atom N450 processor
Not too long ago, the Netbooks in India would cost somewhere around the 30 to 35K mark but all that has changed now as the largest netbook manufacturers of the world Samsung has launched some really cool and cheap netbooks in the country. The country’s cheapest Netbook having the prized N450 processor is the Samsung N148 – the one that we have on our review desk today for a closer inspection. The device is running on the N450 processor the one that most of the Netbooks that lie in this range (though there are not many) will love to have. The Samsung N148 netbook has been provided with extremely good looking exteriors by the company and we hope to see the same kind of performance as the exteriors of the device.

Well we shall start the inspection with display quality of the device; the Samsung N148 comes with a 10.1” anti-reflective display which produces bold colors and sharp images. The brightness is also very good and can be controlled as required. Thought the company claims the display to be fully anti-reflective but while on our desk the device did show some sunrays falling on it through the Window right infront.
The body of the N148 is stylish with a shiny black sparkling top, feels strong and really good to use. Which indeed brings me to the battery backup this is one of the most important features while reviewing laptops that have been launched in our country- N148 fall no short of expectations here, it gives an awesome Battery backup of 8.5hrs which is exactly true and the USP of this netbook. It offers a 250GB Hard drive and 6-cell battery at just Rs. 15k which is hardly provided by anyone in the market.

When it comes to the sound quality of the laptop the N148 is placed well at the top, there are 2 speakers at the bottom in front which outputs good quality sound. It has HD (High Definition) Audio with SRS 3D Sound Effect via software. Now that is something that the device can be proud of. There are five status indicators on the top that show the Caps lock, Hard disk drive, Wireless LAN, Charge status and Power respectively and that gives the device an even more eye catching look (atleast for a 15K notebook).

The touchpad is okayish not the best I would say, it does have a lot of features such as a scroll bar on the left of the touchpad. But the keyboard has been powered with a lot of functionalities (to overcome the shortcoming of the touchpad probably) which includes shortcut keys for functions like Standby mode, see remaining battery, turn on/off LCD, switch Wireless LAN & Bluetooth on/off, disable the touchpad, etc. You can also adjust screen brightness and volume control.

hiiii…………. i dont know how is samsung mini note book -n148, but i like dis 1. it seems low price& compact model, vry useful 4 time management in small offices
Hi, I own this netbook, and am deeply satisfied with it. I feel major costs get reduced because it does not bundle the netbook with an OS. I am a Linux user and wanted a light weight Ubuntu to be used and it proved to be a rocking Idea.
Its value for money. I bought it for Rs.15,500 in March 2010, so I guess the prices might be down by this time. Its got a good battery life and is amazingly cool and comfortable, handy. Yes, its rightly mentioned that the keyboard is classic with chicklet type of keys & the touch pad is okkayish….but it shouldn’t matter much, I feel its the problem with all Netbooks…They keyboard is hands down better than other netbooks which i have seen.
how much price in this note book
I want to buy this but my father not a suffecient money to buy this plz help me……..frnds
