The world’s second largest conglomerate in the field of mobile industry, Samsung, has now come forward with the launch of yet another touchscreen phone featuring the Bada operating system. The handset has been called the Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7320E) and scores quite descent in looks and features. The phone bears some resemblance to the Samsung Star because of the leather flap in the front, but the metallic body of the handset differentiates this phone from the Samsung Star and gives it a full scope “to make a home run.”

Accompanied by a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which has the capability of supporting 256K colors and a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, the Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7320E) handset is provided with an accelerometer sensor for the automatic rotation of the User Interface, TouchWiz User Interface 3.0 and the multi-touch facility. The handset has got the dimensions of about 109.5 x 53.9 x 11.8 mm and is featured for both 2G GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 3G HSDPA 900 / 2100 networks.
In terms of data and connectivity, the Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7320E) handset scores well with the support for GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots) with the provision for 32 – 48 kbps and EDGE Class 10 with the provision for 236.8 kbps download speed connectivity. The phone enables 3G HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps as well and also provides for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity. The handset also provisions for Bluetooth connectivity v3.0 with A2DP, but is not provided with any Infrared port. The phone also accompanies a microUSB port v2.0.
In terms of multimedia, the Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7320E) handset is rather extraordinary and features with a 5 MP camera which shall support features like autofocus, LED flash, Smile detection and geo-tagging, and provide a support for the resolution of images up to 2592 x 1944 pixels. The handset enables QVGA video recording but is not provided with a secondary camera. Provided with the Bada operating system, the phone accompanies a WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML supported browser, Stereo FM radio with RDS and provides for FM recording.
The other noteworthy specifications of the Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7320E) phone include A-GPS support, Java MIDP 2.0, Leather flip cover, MP3/ WAV/ eAAC+ player, MP4/ H.263/ H.264 player, Organizer, Image editor, Voice memo and T9. The handset is provided with a Standard battery, Li-Ion 1200 mAh, a 3.5 mm audio jack, an internal memory of 90 MB, and also provides microSD card support to accommodate up to 16 GB.
The Samsung Wave 723 (GT-S7320E) handset has been announced now, and is expected to be released in the month of September 2010, and is available in a variety of colors. Though there has been no information from the company about the price tag of this handset, but we may expect that the pricing of the phone will be less than the Samsung Wave S8500 which we have seen earlier. For the actual pricing details, we rather have to eagerly wait and watch!
