If you have remembered almost 10 year ago, we had an opportunity of witnessing a total Solar Eclipse from India on 11 August 1999. Later than a very long time wait we are again having a chance to see on Wednesday, 2009 July 22, a total eclipse from the India. Till 2114, the upcoming eclipse will be longest total solar eclipse.

Hi,
i am in my ninth month of pregnancy. how cautious should i be. will this affect my baby?
No. It will not at all affect on your baby. Please don’t belive on such things. we are living in 21st Century and not in 18/19th Century. It is a normal shadow of the moon just like clouds are coming before the sun. Nothing to worry.
Sharon, if ventured outdoors at the time of the eclipse, there are chances that it may affect the baby.. preferably stay indoors .. cosmic phenomena such as this will surely repeat !!!
sharon,
IIRC (if i recall correctly) this is solar eclipse. which means sun will be crossed by moon, the moon’s path aka the lunar path. this causes wide and unexplainable phenomenon. but let us not scare you but kill your fear. and whats most important? try to wake up early and get the solar eclipse coolers. these if you put on can let you see the solar eclipse with eyes. WELL ONE WORD OF PRECAUTION, DONT SEE IT W/O WEARING PROTECTIVE GLASSES. if someone told you your baby will be affected is utter rubbish and religious bogus rambling. there is no emission of any kind of radiation when solar eclipse occurs. if you are so scared of solar eclipse that it may hurt the baby? then do this stay away from TV and computer monitor and microwave. they will cause more damage to the baby. and lastly solar eclipse is perfect for you and your baby (boy/girl) as well. but if you dont wear those protective glasses? yes you may permanently damage your eyes. and beside you can tell your baby it witnessed the total solar eclipse longest duration of the century while in your womb (tummy). if you go so panicky then you may have to be alive for next 100 and more years to see the next one and also the baby.
now your call.
and common this is solar eclipse. this is not a sun burst of CME (corona mass ejection), take a look at this total solar eclipse video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K42UqWGdA_o
and sharon like you there are many other women and also other animals which are pregnant and this is just another day in the calender just sun light will be covered by moon’s size.
you will see a cool diamond ring. have fun. hope this post kills your fear.
good luck to you and your baby.
kudos
paul
p.s. you decide now, you want to be bold and see it and also give a deffered live view to your baby in tummy or wait for 112 years for the next one to happen over india. your choice. ;-)
sharon…congratulation 1st of all…..like prashant said tht we r living in 21st century tht true……
but but…..never ever try to take a chance….we exactly dont kow it affects or not….so better 4 u and baby is u stay back at home…..and try not to cut anything during tht time….plz dont use knife 4 tht period
It is nothing to do with 21st century and belief. The amount of strong cosmic ultra voilet rays emerged just before and after ecipse from the shadow, are very strong and definitly will have side effect on any live delicate body. It can be pre-matured babies, pregnant women or weak and elderly oranamic people or animals.
Try to be safe inside the house. Even though you are in the house, cosmic rays will have same effect even though you are not exposing your body.
That is why in olden days maharshis made a point to have food 2-3 hours before ecipse starts and Darbe, tulsi need to be dipped in the water until the grahan ( elipse) is cleared off.
DO NOT EAT AND DO NOT USE A KNIVE AT THE TIME OF THE SOLAR ECLIPSE, PLEASE.
EVEN IN THE 21TH CENTURY WE HAVE TO BREATH AND NEED THE SAME SUNLIGHT
may be any changes occurs in the gravation between moon &sun, moon&earth, earth& sun…
hi sharon, child is once in life time, so i feel it is better u stay indoors. y do u experiment. all u do is stay indoors and dont eat until the grahan is over nor cook at this time. have a bath and eat something. thats it. i followed it too thought scientific reasons are there..i dint want to experiment on my most precious baby. so nothing to worry in particular. there are many prenant women just be indoors and have food after ur bath. somethings have to be blindly followed to keep us happy as we do. there are so many mysteries left unsloved. life is too short to experimetn. all the best for ur precious one..and take care :)
Hi Sharon..Do not cut anything during GRAHAN period and do not tie your hairs as well. Keep your hairs open [without clip]. Take care.
Hi Sharon..
Please do not panic. Also do not believe on all such things. It is a natural phenomenon and not something abnormal.
Now if the eclipse is so bad then are we stopping ourselves from breathing? no!!
So please go about your normal routine and think it as an usual morning with — some cloud coming infront of Sun that too for 4 min. Also if you are used to wake up late then you won’t even notice it as it will be over by the time you brush and have your tea!!!! : -))
Cheers!!
If enthu — then you can even go to some observatory and watch this wonderful phenomenon WITH FULL PROTECTION TO YOUR EYES!!!
