Henry VII married Elizabeth of York and joined the two feuding families of the Yorks and the Lancasters. The Tudor family combined the Red rose of the Lancasters with the White rose of the Yorks to make the Tudor rose to symbolize the union of the Yorks and the Lancasters.
In 1542, the Tudors extended their power beyond England, achieving the full union of England and the Principality of Wales and successfully asserting English authority over the Kingdom of Ireland. For just over a century, five Tudor monarchs ruled their domains. With the death of Elizabeth I of England, The Tudor line failed in 1603. Elizabeth died at Richmond Palace on 24 March 1603 without an issue. In the female line, only the Tudor dynasty was survived. For most of the following century she had occupy the English throne with the House of Stuart.
