But that hasn’t stopped them from gearing up to launch several new swanky models in 2014. As per reports, the year 2014 will witness several new launches across various segments including Hatchbacks, Sedans, SUVs and MPVs. In India, buyers consider sedans to be the perfect family car, which not only offer enough space to seat for 5 adults, but also excellent fuel economy. And so, all the biggies of auto world including Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Honda, Tata Motors, and Maruti Suzuki are keenly working towards bringing their new models in the promising Sedan segment of Indian Automobile market. Given below is a list of most-awaited Sedans coming to India in 2014. Have a look.

Maruti-Suzuki YL1

The country’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki’s all new mid-sized sedan – codenamed YL1 – is likely to make its much awaited entry into the Indian auto market by 2014. The YL1 sedan is expected to replace the current model SX4, which has lost its charm to Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and several others of same category in the Indian market. The YL1 is said to feature curvier style cues and a larger headlamps & grilles, just like the Hyundai Verna – its biggest rival. The engine options will most likely include the 1.3 liter Multijet diesel or 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine of Ertiga. According to rumors, the new YL1 sedan will borrow several features from SX4 and Ertiga. In fact, it will be more feature rich with stuffs like 16-inch alloy wheels, push button starter, rear AC vents, keyless entry, puddle lamps, etc. Plus, it will come loaded with a number of safety features like Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Above all, the YL1 will be lighter than the current SX4 model, which means it will more economical!

Hyundai Grand i10 Saloon

Earlier reports suggested that Hyundai will bring two new models – a compact SUV and a compact sedan based on Grand i10 – in India in 2014-15. While the SUV is expected to hit the market in 2015, the sedan model has already been caught road testing on the Indian roads, which clearly indicate that the vehicle will make its way to the Indian showrooms very soon. The new Grand Saloon will be Hyundai’s first offering for the sub-4 meter sedan category. Positioned in between the current i10 and i20, this new model is said to have fresh design and more premium features. It is expected to have some first and best-in-class features like high-quality dash and rear air conditioning vents. The new sedan will be made available in both petrol and diesel engine options. And it is expected to give a tough competition to popular models like Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Indigo CS.

Honda Accord

Honda is all set to launch a brand new Honda Accord in India by mid 2014. This fresh version of Accord is a hybrid variant, and according to Honda, it will come loaded with all new technologies and attractive high-class features to lure sedan car lovers. It is said to have even sharper styling, including daytime running lights smartly integrated into a new headlight cluster, blue-accented grille & light lenses, a unique wheel design and decklid spoiler. Plus, it would come with some really innovative features such as Honda’s LaneWatch blind-spot display, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), an 8-inch color i-MID display, cloud-based HondaLink featuring Aha compatibility, seven-speaker audio system with Bluetooth streaming audio, a multi-angle rear view camera with guidelines, new SmartVent front-side airbags, etc. With all such amazing features and technology, the new Accord will compete with the likes of Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Passat.

Tata Manza/Manza CS

If rumors are to be believed, Tata Motors is preparing to launch the next-gen Manza CS compact sedan in India by 2014. The car is expected to be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, where the car maker will also introduce 2014 Indica Vista model. The front end of the new Manza CS sedan seems to be inspired by the Manza hybrid, which was showcased at 2012 Auto Expo. With a new set of dashing headlights and a fully redesigned front bumper with triangular airdams, the front façade is more aggressive this time. The company has even cut back the boot size to make it look like a perfect notchback. The new Manza version is expected to be placed in between the mid-size Manza sedan and Indigo eCs. It will be also available in both diesel and petrol engines -1.3-litre Multi-jet diesel engine and a1.2-litre XETA petrol engine.

New Fiat Linea/Viaggio

Italian auto manufacturer, Fiat is likely to showcase a revised version of Linea in India in 2014. The company has not revealed the exact details of the new Fiat Line facelift yet. However, as per reports, the refreshed Line will have an entirely new fascia, made up of a revamped front grille, redesigned front bumper, and new fog lamps. Coming to the rear side of the sedan, the bumper would get a minor change with an additional chrome strip, which in turn has pushed the number plate on the bootlid. Nevertheless, the side profile of the new model looks exactly the same as the present Linea. Inside the cabin, the updated Linea will have a new 3-layered, 2-tone dash that would give a luxurious feel to the interior, a new integrated audio system and modern-looking AC vents with useful cubbyholes above them. Moreover, Fiat is likely to offer the new Linea with the same engine options as that of the present Linea, which are – 1.3 litre Revolutionary FIRE diesel engine, 1.4-litre Revolutionary FIRE petrol engine and the 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine.

Honda Civic

The new Honda Civic is another sedan that will be making its way to India in 2014. Last year, Honda was forced to stop production of Civic due to poor sales. The lack of sales was mainly due to lack of diesel engine, and also due to the fact that the overall design was outdated. But now with the new, refreshed Civic model, Honda is all set to strengthen its presence in the Indian market with Civic once again. The new Civic is expected to come with a manual & automatic petrol engine version together with a i-Dtec diesel engine. Plus, the vehicle is said to boast a revolutionary design; especially its gloss black grille, gloss rear screen, and sharply defined wheels will offer it a boxy look, which is not so common in India as of yet.

New Toyota Corolla

As per reports, Japanese automaker Toyota will unveil the new Corolla in India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. A camouflaged new Toyota Corolla sedan has been already been spotted in the Indian roads. The updated version will see big changes at exterior, with a much curvier form factor inspired by the Corolla Furia concept. Besides this, stylish LED headlamps & tail lamps, and new alloy wheels are the other visual changes on the new Corolla. On the interiors front, the new Corolla is said to have a completely new dashboard and instrumentation console. Other highlights of the car include touch screen infotainment module, push button start, Bluetooth hands free calling, improved sound insulation, ABS+EBD, and a full complement of 8 airbags. The new Corolla model will be made available in both petrol (1.8-litre VVT-i engine) and diesel (1.4-litre D-4D turbo mill) guise. And when launched, this new Corolla is expected to give a tough competition to Skoda Octavia, Chevrolet Cruise and soon-to-be launched Honda Civic.

Ford Fiesta Facelift

Fiesta is known for its styling and outstanding fuel economy. However, with increase in competition, the sales of this sedan began to drop and so the company is planning to launch the updated version of Fiesta in India. The new Fiesta model is expected to hit Indian market by the second half of 2014. As per reports, this new Fiesta will get significant styling updates such as aggressive Aston Martin-like front grille with chrome slats, a redesigned front bumper & fog lamps, new headlamps, and a revamped bonnet design. The rear portion will be also modified with new tail lights that are a bit larger than before. In terms of engine options, Ford will stick with the current lineup, which means the new Fiesta will also come in both petrol and diesel variants, with a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine respectively.
