Irish Rail is the national railway system operator of Ireland. It was established on 2 February 1987, it is a subsidiary of Coras Iompair Eireann (CIE). All inner intercity, commuter and freight railway services are operated by it in the Republic of Ireland, and, jointly with Northern Ireland Railways, the Enterprise service between Dublin and Belfast. Iarnrod Eireann referred to itself as Irish Rail at the time of its establishment and after it, the four rails IR logo was introduced by it; however the initials “IR” were often disfigured as “IRA” on signage. The Irish form of its name to the fore was gradually brought by the company, eventually introducing its current IE corporate branding and logo in 1994. IE’s passenger services are branded under three main names; InterCity, Commuter, and DART. InterCity services are long-distance routes radial mainly from Dublin.
The two main InterCity stations are Connolly and Heuston in Dublin, and Intercity services run to/from County Cork, County Limerick, County Kerry, County Clare, County Galway, County Waterford, Rosslare Europort, County Sligo, Westport, County Wexford and Ballina. The majority of Commuter services are based in Dublin, which in 2008 has four commuter routes which are Northern (Dundalk), Western (Maynooth/Longford), South Western (Newbridge/Kildare/Portlaoise) and South Eastern (Arklow).
Presently, The Cork Suburban Rail has three commuter services to Mallow, Cobh and a third service to Midleton, on 31 July 2009 which became operational on a part of the neglected Youghal branch line. Along Dublin’s eastern coastal side, the north-south route is also host to DART. Heavy rail service was electrified by Ireland’s(Iarnród Éireann).

If you want to get Irish Rail Timetables and Train Tickets & Times then visit the official website at Www.irishrail.ie. When you open the official website, on the left side of the home page the option of printed timetables is given. Click on the option.
Then you will get the page of timetables where Route Description of Intercity timetables, Route Description, DART Station Departure Timetables, and Outer Suburban stations are given. For getting timetable information, you will have to download the PDF file by clicking on the route description. For getting Northern Ireland Railways timetable click on “Click Here to view timetables for Northern Ireland Railways” option.
With the help of Journey planner you can book your tickets. The option of journey planner is given on the home page of the site. You will have to select the place from and to, date and time of your departure and return, and numbers of passengers. Then you will have to click on “Search” option.
Get the new page, select the trains. You will get the information about time of departure and return. If you want to purchase the ticket, then you will have to tick on the box which is given on the right side.
If you want to check price, then click on “Check price” option but if you want to continue your process, click on “Proceed to reservation”.
After that they will ask you about your first name and last name. You will have to select the seats after giving your information. Before place your order, you must have to log in. For login your E-mail address and password is required. You can pay by debit card and credit card. At last, they also ask for confirmation.
For getting information about Fares, click on “Fares” option which is given at the left side of the home page. Then you will get the page of fares. On the top of the page link about DART Fares, InterCity Fares Enquiries, and Web Fares will be given. For getting DART fares you will have to enter the place and click on search option.
