For getting online services, you have to sign up at www.sterlingnj.com by completing and submitting its easy to use On-Line Application. You will receive your Initial Customer Id and Personal Identification Number (PIN) through email upon its receipt and acceptance. Originally, your pin will be set to the last four digits of your tax payer identification number. To make sure a high level of security and performance, you will require a connection to the Internet, and a Web Browser that supports 128-bit SSL encryption, such as Microsoft Explorer version 5.0 and higher or Netscape Navigator 4.7 and higher. Sterling Bank Online Banking:

To start banking online, visit the Home page of Sterling Bank’s web site, www.sterlingnj.com. You can sign on and access its online banking services from this screen by entering your Customer ID and Personal Identification Number (PIN). After entering your Customer ID and PIN, click on the Login button to submit your sign-on information.

Customer ID

Sterling Bank has assigned a 12-digit number. Once you set up, you can create an alias for your ID number that you easily remember. The system randomly issues your customer ID that cannot be changed.

PIN

After logging in successfully, you will be prompted to change your PIN. Your PIN can be any 4-8 AlphaNumeric combination.

Note: Each customer is allowed three sign-on attempts. After the third invalid attempt, the system will lock you out for a 24-hour period from the time you attempted to sign on. If you forgot your PIN, you will have to call them to have your PIN reset. Once you login successfully, you can change your PIN.

After logging in, you will first see the Account Listing page, where you can also initiate transfers, view current transactions, view range of transactions between dates, enter stop payments, access Account Management, download transactions, access BillPay (bill payment service), or get Help. The system will also show the last time you logged in and the total number of times you have logged in as a security measure. From the Account Management page, you can reset the login counter. You can select “View Accounts” option or scroll down to your account information to view your account information. If you want to log out from online banking choose “Exit” option.

Viewing Account Information

You can view all of the accounts you have set up to access through online banking from the Account Listing page. Initial account names are based on default system account descriptions. But, by going to the Account Management page and selecting Change Pseudo Account Name, you can personalize the descriptions.

View Current transactions

You will be able to view current statement transactions by choosing “View Current transactions” selection. It will also offer you the unique ability to simply click on any check number in order to view an image of the front and back of the check.

View Statements enable you to view prior statements and transactions.

View Range of Transactions

You are provided the flexibility to look up transactions by dollar amount range, check number range or even date range by “View Range of Transactions” option.

Enter Stop Payments

To complete required information, follow the menu prompts in order to place your stop payment request:

  • Enter date of check to stop.
  • Enter check number (or range of checks) to stop.
  • Enter the range of amounts (or exact amount) to stop.
  • Enter payee of the check to stop.
  • Enter any remarks.

Then press the Submit button. You will then get a Stop Payment confirmation page. It is recommended that you print this page for your records.

Transfer Funds From This Account

You can select “Transfer Funds From This Account” option from the drop-down menu on the Account Listing page. To start a transfer between accounts you should:

  • Choose the account to transfer the funds from by using the drop-down menu on the Account Listing page.
  • Select transfer funds from this account from the drop down menu, then click GO.
  • by clicking on the check box next to the account name select the account to transfer funds on the transfer funds page to. Enter the amount, including cents that you would like to transfer In the amount to transfer box.
  • Optional: If you want to make the transfer a recurring scheduled transfer, choose the frequency and dates from the available options at the bottom of the page. The default for transfers is “one time”.

To click on the Submit button, which is situated at the bottom of the page, process your transfer. After completing transfer, a page displaying the information about the transfer and a confirmation number will appear. It is recommended that for your records, you have to print this page.

Account Management

The Account Management page provides you the option to change your PIN or personal ID (Alias), reset your login counter, change account names, and change display options, confirm or change your e-mail address, and create an account watch system to track balance limits or transactions.

Change PIN

You can change your PIN at any time and as many times as you wish with “Change Pin” option. The PIN you select must be 4-8 numbers or letters in length. Contact the bank, if you ever forget your PIN, the bank can reset it for you. You will be prompted to change your PIN upon your first successful sign-on.

Change Personal ID (Alias)

You can change your online banking Customer ID from the 12-digit bank assigned number to something easier for you to remember (alias). The Alias that you select must be between 4 and 12 characters long with no spaces or special characters. The ID cannot start with a number, but may include numbers in it. All ID’s are individual and two persons may not keep the same one. If you select an ID that has already been chosen by another customer, you will be prompted to select another ID.

Reset Login Count

You can reset the login counter for your on line banking ID from “Reset Login Count” option. It will inform you that the counter has been reset. You will see that your login count is 0, by going back to the View Accounts / Account Listing page.

Change Pseudo Account Name

Through online banking, Each account that you have access, will be initially set up with a default name created by the banking system. You can change the name of any accounts to something more personal from “Change Pseudo Account Name” option, if you wish to do so. Valid account names can contain upper and lowercase letters, spaces, and any number between 0 and 9.

Display Options

From “display option”, you can choose how many accounts you wish displayed on the account-listing page.

Edit Watch List

You may select available options from “Edit Watch List” option, in order to get notification when a transaction is paid or received. Additionally, when your balance falls out of your pre-selected range, you may select account balance limits and be alerted. You may also choose specific checks and be notified upon their payment from your account. Finally, you even have the ability to write and store personal alert messages for your selected accounts.

Download Transactions

Sterling Bank On-Line has an option to download account transactions into a personal finance application such as Quicken or Microsoft¨ Money. You can also download your account information into a text file or spreadsheet format. To download transactions do the following:

  • From the Download Transactions page, select the account you would like to download transactions from.
  • Select the range of transactions to download.
  • Select a format for the type of software you are downloading to
    • Open Financial Exchange (.OFX – Microsoft¨ Money), (.QFX – for Intuit¨ Quicken)
    • Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF – for Intuit QuickBooks)
    • Personal Finance (.QIF – Quicken, etc.)
    • Spreadsheet (.CSV – Excel, Lotus, etc.)
    • Word Processing (.TXT – Plain text document).

To start the download, click on “Continue” option. Then, click on the link at the bottom of the page to finalize the download.
