It was formed in September, 2000 with an objective to create nation-wide broadband, telecom and multimedia network, to modernize Train Control Operation and Safety System of Indian Railways. RailTel offers corporate as well as individual Internet Services all along its network. With a mission to make available “ICT to Common Man” & “Internet, Education and Health Services to Masses”, Government of India enterprise starts RailWire is an initiative of the RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel).

Nowadays, RailTel plans to open 250 fully Air-conditioned Cyber Cafes on Railway Stations which gives services like Internet browsing , Internet telephony, Scanning of documents, Video conferencing, Audio video chatting, printing of documents and CD writing etc.

Railwire Express Network provides services Games, MCS, Chat, E-learning, E-mail, Document manager, etc. RailWire offers content & application driven network, great deal of flexibility and affordable pricing all in 1 package.     This is a wonderfull plan, I think Government has to look in for such opertunities to capture the need of public. I hope BSNL and MTNL are bit back in competition when compared to private networks.

    I think u should campaign more to reach the common public. I think we should watch movies online connected to our large LCD’s. The plans to cater such needs with greater resolution.
