Why is it that I have not received any mail at the above address for the past 10 days? I thought there was an obligation on the Post Office to deliver mail to any address in the U K every day! I realise there have been difficulties with the weather in the recent past but conditions are now perfectly good and mail could be dlivered with no problem.

You are trying to be ironic, aren’t you?

    ‘OCCASIONALLY?’

My mother is very upset. it is her birthday today and a member of her family sent her a parcel from the isle of wight. She was in all morning. the postman came and put a sorry you were out card through the door without knocking. She rang the local delivery office who said that they would make him come back and deliver the parcel. it is now 3.32 pm and he has not been back. My mother and the person who sent this parcel are very upset. i think that it is a disgrace that the postman didnt bother to knock the door to get a signature and leave her parcel. She only lives in a bungalow so would hear the door wherever she was in the bungalow. She also had friends round and were sat in the living room (which is right next to the front door) with windows open so he would have known that there was somebody in. My mum is very upset and i think it is a terrible service that has been provided. Her local office that she was due to pick the parcel up from was loughborough Rd, Leicester. She spoke to somebody on the phone from that office at 11.20 today. 29th July. i look forward to hearing your comments. not that it will make any difference to her now as her birthday will be over by the time she gets her birthday present.

Yet again four adults in the house in different locations, cars on drive, but note left to say package has been returned to depot for collection, the door bell was not rung and their was no knock at the door or one of us would have heard it.
Was the item on the delivery van in the first place, is it easier for the delivery driver to write out the notes in advance and sneak up driveways and put through letter box.
This has now happened to us (in the Bolton area ) on numerous occaisions.
There is no problem hearing the doorbell or a knock, we never miss any other callers or deliveries from other agencies when we are in, only from the royal mail.
Could it be that the delivery men are cutting corners to complete their rounds early.
The Royal Mail are not giving the service they shoud be to their customers.
I hope this matter will be investigated.

This is the third or fourth time I have received a non-delivery card. On all occasions I have been at home and the doorbell has not been tried. Even if the doorbell failed, I have a large brass knockers to use. I am very ill and only able to shop online, therefore I find this atrocioous service very distressing. I have attempted to phone the local office five times (at the cost of 5p per minute) because I do not have a BT line, only to be told they are busy. I am not surprised other companies want a share of Royal Mail’s business, I am all in favour.
