A. R Rahman won two Grammy Awards

Indian Bollywood film composer, record producer, musician and singer A R Rahman won two Grammy awards for his music from Oscar Award winning film “Slumdog Millionaire” at 52nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday 31st January, 2010. The maestro got the awards for compilation soundtrack for a motion picture and “Jai ho” in the best motion picture song category.

A. R. Rahman has been nominated for the first time for a Grammy. He joins other Indian music greats like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Vikku Vinayak, Zakir Jussain, and Vishvamohan Bhatt who have won a Grammy in the past.

A R Rahman also won Two Academy Awards, four National Film Awards, thirteen Filmfare Awards, a BAFTA Award, and Golden Globe.

In the soundtrack Category, Rehman competitors were Steve Jordan for “Cadillac Records,” Quentin Tarantino for “Inglourious Basterds”, and the producers of “Twilight” and “True Blood.” And in the best song category Rahman’s beaten rivals included Bruce Springsteen for his song “The Wrestler”, from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name. At the Last years Rahman won two Oscars for his music in “Slumdog Millionaire.

In the Last month, Rahmna was selected for an Oscar nomination for his Tamil song NaNa from the Hollywood film, Couples Retreat. This song is competing with others 62 nominations, which will be revealed on 2 February.
