Mobile World Congress 2012 News that you might have missed!


Mobile World Congress also known as the MWC that is held in Barcelona every year is one of the most liked and most awaited technology events in the technology industry especially for people who are crazy for trying out new mobiles and new mobile accessories. It is combination of of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a conference featuring prominent Chief Executives representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world. The event is named as the GSM World or more newly as the 3GSM World Congress. The theme for this years’ show being held in Barcelona is ‘Redefining Mobile’ and there are several reasons as to why this one has that theme.

All the major mobile phone manufacturers from around the world are a part of the event and they come up with their flagship devices in this event. All eyes have been set on Nokia, Samsung, Sony, HTC and LG for this years GSM world congress and they did not disappoint a bit.

News from Nokia:

Nokia used this event to promote their Asha and the Lumia series of phones, In fact for Nokia this GSM Congress was all about their Ash and Lumia series. In the Asha series there were three devices launched named the Asha 302, Asha 202 and Asha 203. The Asha 302 runs a GHz processor and a Is built for extensive internet usage.

It bears a 14.4Mbps HSDPA internet connectivity spped and features Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp integration; it also bears a Microsoft Exchange email which indeed is a first for a Nokia feature phone. The lower-end Ashas feature 2.4″ touch screen and come with the Nokia Browser. Both have 2MP cameras. There’s also Bluetooth, microSD card slot for cards up to 32GB and FM radio. The Asha 203 bears a dual-sim slot and bears personalized settings for upto 5 different SIM cards.


On the Lumia Series the actors were Lumia 900 and the Lumia 610, the Lumia 900 is the next higher moel  of the Lumia series it bears a 16 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM.and the AMOLED touch screen made of Gorilla Glass, making it a competition to the high end Android smartphones from Samsung. The device bears a 1.4 GHZ monster on the inside with 8 MP snapper 16 GB internal storage and 3G capability. This one however does not have a memory card slot and a FM transmitter so buyers must take a close look at what they want before going for this one.

News from Samsung:

So that is about Nokia as far as Samsung is concerned the company used the GSM congress to promote the Galaxy series in fact the tablet range in the Galaxy series- on promotion were the new version of the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Tab. There were three main attractions from Samsung in the MWC the Samsung Galaxy Beam being on of the most one catching device at the congress. The beam is another one of the very powerful Galaxy smartphones. It runs the Android Gingerbread on a 1 GHz dual core A9 cortex processor it bears a 5MP primary snapper and 1.3 MP secondary one. It also comes with a 4.0’’ capacitive touchscreen and a 2000mAh battery.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 is a phablet format device in fact the big brother of the Samsung Galaxy Note which has made a huge impact on the market already. It runs the Gingerbread on a 1.4 GHz monster and bears a 3.15MP primary snapper along with a 2MP secondary one. With 16/32/64GB internal memory, it also bears 7000mAh battery and can be used as a WIFI hotspot. Samsung Tab2 was another release from Samsung house in this MWC 2012. This one is a total tablet device from the house of Samsung and runs the Ice Cream Sandwich on a dual cortex A( processor. It comes with either 16 or 32 GB internal memory with a 1 GB RAM. It bears a 3.15 snapper on the back and a VGA one in front. IT can used for making video calls and also as a WIFI hotspot.

News from LG:

For LG the MWC 2012 was about the Optimus Series, it announced two amazing devices in Optimus 3D max and Optimus 4X HD. The Optimus 4X HD device shall be one big monster running the Ice Cream sandwich on a quad core 1.5 GHz processor, bearing a 16 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM along with a 32 GB SD card slot. It bears a 8MP primary snapper along with a 1.3 MP secondary one with all the sensors and a 2140 mAh battery which make it a competition to the Apple iPhone  5 that is expected to release this year.

However, the iPad3 was announced to be released on March 7 this year. The other phone that was qnnounced is a relative Mid range one.  It is called the Optimus 3D Max and runs the Gingerbread on a 1.2 GHz processor. This one is a slight upgrade of the Optimus 3D and the 3D feature is simply amazing.

News from HTC:

HTC debuted its ‘One’ series at the MWC 2012 the devices unveiled were the flagship One X and One XL, the mid-range One S, and the starter One V. The One X is HTC’s most powerful smartphone till date it bears 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 display, . A 1.5GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip for the global edition of the phone and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core for the LTE variant coupled with 1GB of RAM will be making sure Android 4.0 Ice Scream Sandwich is running at its best with no apps making it think twice. It bears powerful  8 MP and all the other features to make the other devices really envy this one.

The low end device HTC One V packs a  1 GHz single core processor, 512MB of RAM and a 3.7-inch WVGA LCD display. The One V runs Ice Cream Sandwich, but unlike it’s fellow relatives from the One family, which run Sense 4.0, the One V is coated with the older Sense 3.6 and all the other variants are somewhere in between with different features in each.

Part from these there were some really cool tehnology upgrades that were launched in the 2012 the best amongst them was the launch of the customer preview of the Windows 8 and the Skype Windows Phone Beta went live.
