NBC Newscaster Tom Brokaw and his wife were involved in a car accident. The accident occurred about 1 p.m. on New York City highway. The three-car accident happened on 4 December, 2009. In this accident one woman killed and a mail truck driver injured.
The woman, Suejaes Estrada, was killed after losing control of her car, turn-sharply into the middle way, and was fall down from her car on train tracks 40 feet below the highway.The accident took place when an SUV turn-sharply to avoid a spool of wire that had fallen from a truck and crash into a 7-ton U.S. postal truck. Brokaw was driving behind the postal truck and hit the back of the truck. The driver of the SUV was fall down from her vehicle and killed.
Tom and her wife Meredith both were safe but his wife had minor injury. In a statement it was said:
“Tom and her wife Meredith were in the far left lane when they noticed a reel of cable bouncing along the far right lane. Then, a green SUV in the right lane came up quickly and tried to avoid the cable. The driver lost control of her vehicle and slid into the middle lane, forcing a mail truck into Tom’s way of traffic. As the mail truck careened into his lane, he hits the brakes hard and slipped along the median. When the mail truck throws the median his vehicle slid into it. Neither he nor his wife Meredith was injured. but disastrously the driver of the SUV was fall down from her vehicle and killed. They are greatly disappointed by this loss of life.”
About this accident the police said the overturned of SUV throw-out the driver. The woman was 30 years old. She felt down into a rail yard more than 70 feet below. The old driver was also dead in the accident. The driver was 54 years old. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center with bumps and bruises.
The public information officer from the U.S. postal service Peter Rendina also said the accident occurred when the SUV turn-sharply to avoid a reel of wire that had fallen off the back of a truck.
