Over the last few days, rumors are circulating around the world that Twitter would launch their new image sharing service. Now, twitter has officially launched photo sharing service by which users can share their images with their friends. Along with the photo sharing service, Twitter has also launched other new features such as the follow button and the photo & video search. Twitter’s image sharing service was previously announced in June and since then it is finally here for the site’s users.
Twitter has introduced this new feature in association with popular photo hosting site, Photobucket that provides all of the hosting for user-attached photos. Introduction of this new service was made without announcement or fanfare. For enabling Twitter’s own photo upload feature in your account, there is no settings or configuration required. The service is enabled to you by default and it will be seen above the screen within few days.
At the bottom of the “What’s Happening?” box, where you type in tweet on your official Twitter page, a new camera icon will come into sight that lets you to upload a picture. Just by clicking on this camera icon, users can select a picture to upload in their twitter account. When you upload a picture, tweets containing photos would provide you a link to pic.twitter.com, together with a thumbnail of the uploaded picture. Users can also preview the picture before sending it to across the globe.
Users can only upload those images which have 3MB file size or smaller. Twitter’s photo service basically cancels out the utility of photo-sharing services such as TwitPic. For contending with third-party services that built on Twitter’s platform, Twitter has move towards criticism. From now, users can upload as well as share photos straightforwardly from twitter, without the use of any other services. In the FAQ, Twitter also points out that they are working on gallery functionality for attached images and will also comprise images uploaded from other image hosting sites, not only of their own.
In advance to the launch of Apple iOS 5, the feature has been rolled out. Apple’s new mobile will come with prominent features such as Twitter integration that basically makes it the default social network for iOS users. Through Twitter in iOS 5, users can share photos. Until now, twitter has not made any announcement regarding when mobile photo uploads will be accessible in its iOS and Android apps but we hope that the functionality will be approaching very soon.

After deleting Twitter account, the image is still accessible if you have copied the web address of the image that provided by your twitter account. You should be little careful when you upload an image as every tweet that contains a link to your image is searchable.
