Kieron Pollard : IPL 3′s Most Expensive Player with bid of $750,000

Kieron Pollard was born on May 12, 1987 in Tacarigua, Trinidad. He is an all-rounder player and the highest paid player in the Indian Premier League 2010. Kieron Pollard is playing for the Mumbai Indians team under the captaincy of Sachin Tendulkar. In the year 2009 the Champions League Twenty20, Kieron Pollard gave an impressive performance.

After some violent bidding, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore all bid the maximum allowed $750,000. Pollard is only 22 years old and he compares himself to the modern Kevin Pieterson.

Kieron Pollard provides big-hitting from the middle-order and medium fast pace bowling. With a rumored bid of $2,800,000, Mumbai Indians won a ‘silent-tiebreaker’. Pollard gets the original $750,000 and the additional money being received by the IPL due to IPL rules and regulations.

But one of the biggest surprises was that not a single Pakistan player was even selected by any of the franchises. Well, in the year 2009 Champions league T-20 for Trinidad & Tobago, Pollard beat 54 runs in 18 balls in the 15th match which played against New South Wales. Pollard won the man of the match award. After this game, NSW approached Kieron Pollard and signed him for his team.

In the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, Pollard also represents the South Australian Redbacks and then he has signed for Somerset County Cricket Club for the 2010 Twenty20 Cup competition. It is quite difficult for any batsman to pursue the his score level easily. The CEO of Cricket NSW David Gilbert said “Pollard was very keen on negotiations continuing further. If Pollard did take part in the Big Bash for New South Wales, it would certainly boost the Blues’ chances of keeping the title”. With all this stuffs, Pollard became the most expensive player. The base price of Pollard is $200,000. For season 3 IPL auction, Pollard is the second player who comes under the bid.

The team owner Neeta Ambani simplified Pollard’s selection “It was a team strategy between Sachin, Shekar and Robin (Singh). We wanted a batting all-rounder in our team so we’re happy to have him”.

Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore lost bid for Pollard. Kolkata Knight Riders bought the “Kiwi Shane Bond” for $1.3 million. In the rest of IPL 3, Bond and Pollard will pocket $750,000 each.
