The Asian Tour is the primary men’s professional golf tour in Asia excluding Japan, which has its own Japan Golf Tour and which is also occupied member of the International Federation of PGA Tours. The Asian Tour declared its 2010 schedule with a minimum of 28 tournaments, which will include two new tournaments to be launched in India in February—the Avantha Championship and Nimbus Pro-Am Championship. The Asian Tour Executive Chairman is Kyi Hla Han who said “the continued backing from major sponsors and golf bodies from across the Asia Pacific region will see next season’s schedule flourish after a challenging 2009 season caused by the global financial crisis.” The two new tournaments will also make their entrance in Malaysia, and it is finalizing new events for Vietnam and Taiwan.
Kyi Hla Han also said in statement “We are delighted to announce our 2010 schedule which will include a minimum of 28 tournaments with over 39 million dollars in prize money, which reaffirms our position as a major international golf tour“. From 2012 onwards Asian tour is planning 30 to 35 events with over 45 million dollars in prize money.
