Fox Soccer HD channel coming to DirecTV in time for English Premiere League
High definition TV is something that has really become a must have capability for all cable TV viewers all over the world. And watching a football match in high definition has a totally different feel to it than watching it in normal video mode. DirecTV – the digital satellite TV provider has decided to put the high definition FOX sports channel in the long list of high definition channel that it provided.
DirecTV provides television and audio services to subscribers through satellite transmissions. Services include the equivalent of many local television stations, broadcast television networks, subscription television services, satellite radio services, and private video services. Subscribers have access to dozens or hundreds of channels, so its competitors are cable television service and other satellite-based services.

Most subscribers use reception antennas which are much smaller than the first generation antennas, which used antennas a few yards (meters) across. The small antenna size is a characteristic of direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service, which uses more powerful satellite transmissions than previous satellites could produce. Receiving equipment includes a satellite dish, an integrated receiver/decoder and a DirecTV access card, which is necessary to operate the receiver/decoder.
DirecTV started a major upgrade to support HDTV. On January 9, 2007, DirecTV announced that they would introduce up to 100 national HD channels during 2007, all of which would be MPEG-4 encoded. On October 15, 2007, DirecTV announced that they now have 70 national high-definition channels available, with up to 100 coming by year end. On October 3, 2008, DirecTV announced that it would offer HD local channels in 121 markets by year-end. Currently, DirecTV provides its programming lineup through a fleet of ten total satellites, one of which is leased.
The FOX sports HD will start broadcasting from the 14th of August on Direct Satellite TV network and probably broadcast the English premier league in high definition for the DirecTV owners to enjoy. The EPL started as the FA Premier League on 20 February 1992 after the decision of clubs in the Football League First Division to break away from The Football League. This was originally founded in 1888.
The Premier League has since become the world’s most watched sporting league. It is the world’s most lucrative football league, with combined club revenues of £1.93 billion ($3.15bn) in 2007–08. It is also ranked first in the UEFA coefficients of leagues. This rating is based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. In this English Premier League is ahead of Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A. A total of 43 clubs have competed in the Premier League, but only four have won the title: Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, and Chelsea. The current champions are Chelsea.
Satellite TV owners strive every moment to get the best coverage of an event like the EPL on their network so that due to the large viewership the channel can impress more and more people and lure them into buying the satellite TV connection.
