Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki will launch small A-Star car with Automatic transmission on the 15th of August which has great Specifications and people’s reviews.
According to Maruti Suzuki, since the manual transmission’s launch back in 2008, Maruti Suzuki says 60% of the A-Star buyers walk into Maruti showrooms having already made up their mind and turn a blind eye to other models in the Maruti Suzuki line-up.
Maruti Suzuki bids to strengthen its hold over Indian car market. Currently there is very limited number of small cars in Indian market with automatic transmission option, one prominent car also being Hyundai i10 from Hyundai India.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. first made its new KB engine series debut with the Maruti Suzuki A-Star in India. Known in India as the A-Star, it is really what the rest of the world knows as the Suzuki Alto and has been designed to replace the older Alto in the European markets and go up against the Hyundai i10. The A-Star has only seen moderate success in the Indian market, but Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. are all set to roll out an automatic transmission version of the A-Star.
Maruti Suzuki India chief general manager- marketing Shashank Srivastava said “”By early next week, we will be introducing the automatic transmission (AT) variant of the A-Star. We see a growing market for the automatic transmission cars in India, as traffic congestion is increasing by the day resulting in driver fatigue,”
But he declined to share the price of the AT variant of the A-Star, saying it will be decided next week. The A-Star is currently available between Rs 3.59 lakh and Rs 4.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
After SX4, to have the AT variant, the new A-Star will be the second model from MSI’s stable. Srivastava said, Launched in November 2008, the A-Star has so far sold around 85,000 units, but adding it will be too early to ascertain how much increase in sales could be expected after the launch of the AT variant. Srivastava said “”Our reading is that the market for AT cars is gradually growing in India as congestion on the roads has increased. The market will continue to grow,”
When asked him if MSI will also introduce the AT variants in other models as well, he said: “First we need to study the customer response to the A-Star AT and then we will take a call.”
The 4-speed A-Star Automatic has a ARAI certified mileage of 17kmpl, a mere 2kmpl short of the manual transmission.

I heard of Maruti A- Star from my neighbours mainly, ragarding fuel effiency, less maintainance and good service availability. I am planning to go for it if new Maruti A-Star 2010 with automatic transmission specs car is available in market.
i was just wondering the car is prized equal to i10 sports after discount. where as i10 sports is 1200 cc vehicle and a-star at is 1000 cc vehicle. how can anybody justify the price. i will be glad to hear a comparison from anybody including maruthi.
I had booked an astar automatic via Tanya Auto Meerut on 22nd Sept but I’m yet to receive any confirmation when I’ll get the car. Seem Maruti production is yet to start, so beware before booking this car.
