The Golf hatchback is produced at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga based automobile assembly plant side along with the new Passat.
According Automotive News, spokesperson from VW (Volkswagen) described that the next Golf would be launched during the end of 2012 otherwise in early 2013. Previously, Martin Winterkorn, VW CEO declared that the new Golf will arrive in showrooms in November 2012. He added that no exact month had been targeted for launching yet.
Company’s MQB architecture based new Golf should provide company’s large investments in the financial department. In VW’s Golf series, Golf Mk VII will be second VW brand model which will be based on the cost-saving modular transverse architecture that ultimately used for making 3 million vehicles annually. It is expected that VW’s existing price may be reduced as it did on the Jetta. The 2012 Audi A3 will be Volkswagen Group MQB platform based model.
One another issue said it will be concentrated on the new platform and that is the comparatively slow and expensive production process than the existing MkVI and previous MkV models needs.
As per sources, the Golf entirely will launch in European market during 2012 and then the launch will be placed in the United States during 2013.
Expectedly, the upcoming Golf model will come with lower and wider dimensions and edgier structure. The wheelbase and overall length would be slightly increased in size for improving interior volume and the research concerning packaging will not be done. The Golf VII will be powered by Turbo Stratified Injection (TSI) gasoline four-cylinder engines with 1.2 to 2.0 liters displacement. It will be designed for bringing the compressed-gas tanks, batteries, or hybrid units. The 2013 Golf will be around 250 pounds lighter than current models.
It is difficult to expect about the price of the redesigned 2013s Golf because last time the Golf 2010-models’ base prices started from $20,000s including the sporty GTI and class-exclusive Turbo Direct Injection (TDI) powered models.
