Palm has announced on 9 September 2009 that a tiny, sleek web OS based handset, Pixi will be coming to sprint holiday season of year 2009. The phone will hit shelves with 8GB of storage onboard, a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.63-inch, 320 x 400 capacitive displays in a minute and 2 megapixel cameras with flash.

From Palm’s Touchstone charging dock, Palm Pixi will support wireless charging. The Pixi seems like a webOS version of the old Palm OS Centro, but with an improved by all appearances.

Price of palm Pixi screen on its pre entry pointed to $149.99 but it is assumed that it’s going to be in the $99 or less ballpark. The Pre sells for $200 after $100 rebate.

One is price. This phone should be $49 or even free, since a Pre can be had for $79-$99 easy and is the superior phone here. Plus, the Droid Eris at $99 is a better phone with WiFi.
Second, WebOS. Though I really like it and think it works great, compared to the other guys out there, namely Apple and Android, it offers little. While those OSes have a number of apps, and Android is open and on a number of handsets, is open and of course Google, where does WebOS fit here? Even WinMo has its place.
