Acer has officially announced two new Android smartphones ahead of Mobile World Congress 2013. Dubbed as Liquid E1 and Liquid Z2, both are mid-range smartphones, and loaded with a multitude of impressive features. The exact release date still remains unknown, but Acer has confirmed that these handsets will be made available first in France, Netherlands, Belgium and Ukraine, then in UK, Russia and Italy, during next few weeks or months. Moreover, the Liquid E1 device is expected to be priced somewhere between €199 (£174 or US$266) and €299 (£260 or US$400), while the Z2 handset is likely to be priced between €199 (£174 or US$266) and €299 (£260 or US$400). What’s even more exciting is that both devices will be available in single and dual SIM configurations. Now, let’s check out the full specifications and features of both these phones individually.
Acer Liquid E1
The Liquid E1 sports a massive 4.5-inch quarter-high-definition (qHD) display having 960 x 540 pixels of resolution. Under the hood, the phone sports a powerful 1 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM. It runs on latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. There’s a 5 MP rear facing camera with LED flash capability, and also the device is equipped with 0.3 MP VGA quality front facing camera for video chatting. Plus, it offers 4 GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded using a microSD card.
The Liquid E1 handset offers a host of connectivity options like Bluetooth 3.0+EDR, Wi-FI 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and FM radio. The device also come pre-installed with various useful apps and services like AcerCloud, Acer UI 5.0, Google Gallery/Music, Google Search, Gtalk, Gmail, GooglePlay Store, Polaris Office Editor, YouTube, Swype text input, etc. Moreover, Acer has added some unique interesting features in this handset. The feature called ‘Float Caller Notification’ is one among them. This unique feature would make sure that users are not interrupted by incoming calls/messages while using apps or watching videos, by taking over the entire screen. Instead, a small Float Caller notification window will come up and this would allow the users to attend calls or reply messages faster.
Another interesting feature of Liquid E1 handset is the dual-speaker system with DTS Sound. This feature enables the users to enjoy music that are already stored or from their PC via AcerCloud. Plus, there is an integrated music player called Moodagent, which can create mood-based playlists instantly. It intelligently uses songs from the library to generate playlists that match an individual’s mood. Besides these impressive features, the handset is powered by a Li-Ion 1760 mAh battery, which ensures up to 8 hours of talk time and around 400 hours of standby time. The device will be available in two color options – carbon black and pearl white.
Acer Liquid Z2
The Liquid Z2 features a 3.5-inch HVGA display with 480 x 320 pixels of resolution, which is comparatively smaller than the E1 handset. However, with 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon processor coupled with 512MB RAM, the device indeed delivers rapid results while browsing or transferring data. Like E1 model, this one too runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Operating System. Most likely the handset would come with a 5 MP rear camera (yet to be confirmed).
In case of storage capacity, the Liquid Z2 users will get 4 GB memory, which can be later expanded using a microSD card. Plus, it provides a number of connectivity options including Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, FM Radio and GPS. Just like in Liquid E1, you can also find all those additional features including Google Play Store, YouTube and Swype text input in Liquid Z2 smartphone too. Moreover, the speakers in the device are equipped with SRS (Sound Retrieval System) technology, which helps the handset in delivering greater clarity and deeper bass.
Under the hood, the device sports a 1300 mAh battery, which can provide a really impressive standby time of 440 hours and up to 4 hours of continuous talktime. Last but not least, the smartphone would come in two color options – carbon black and pearl white.
